The Cyber Mentor

Summary

The Cyber Mentor (Heath Adams) podcast, often featured on YouTube, revolves around providing accessible, high-quality education to help people break into the cybersecurity field.

He focuses on practical ethical hacking, penetration testing, career advice, and navigating the industry, aiming to make training affordable and hands-on.
Primary Focus Areas

  • Career Building: He provides actionable advice on transitioning into information security, especially from non-technical backgrounds (e.g., his own journey from accounting).
  • Ethical Hacking: His episodes often feature technical deep dives into penetration testing, network assessments, and web application security.
  • Education Accessibility: A central theme is making cybersecurity training affordable and practical, often highlighting his TCM Academy courses and the PNPT (Practical Network Penetration Tester) certification.
  • Industry Realities: He discusses the “real world” of being a business owner and professional hacker, including social engineering and physical security engagements.

About

Source: Website

Hey everyone!  My name is Heath, but you may know me as “The Cyber Mentor™ “.  I’m currently working in the cybersecurity realm as a business owner and penetration tester, performing security testing ranging from network penetration and web application assessments to social engineering and physical engagements.  I’ve created my social media presence because 1) I’ve always had a passion for teaching and 2) the cybersecurity field is growing in demand faster than it can fill jobs.  My goal is to be a mentor for those with any sort of interest in cybersecurity and help grow our community in the process.  If you’re interested, you can read more about my journey into cybersecurity here.

When I’m not hacking or teaching, I’m also busy being a husband to my wonderful wife.  We currently parent a ridiculous amount of animals, which you can often catch on the live stream!  I also enjoy video games (mainly Overwatch and anything Vive at the moment), playing the guitar, running, dressing up in the occasional suit, watching sports, and watching stand-up comedy.

I hope you enjoy my teaching!
